ONA project room is pleased to present an exhibition by Akiha Yamakami "Awai" the new soft sculptures at UNTITLED space. The works are 'Lifeforms' based on a single drawing.
They are both physical and visceral, and speak to us with a strange warmth. Akiha visualizes forms that cannot be seen but are definitely there by multiplying the vague and uncertain forms in her mind that cannot be put into words by the existence of a space-time entity that has no elear form "Awai ".
A performance by dancer Lion Kawai will be held at the opening on 27 May (Fri). The performance will be held twice, at 6pm and 7 pm.
今回のUNTITLED spaceでの個展で発表する新作のソフトスカルプチャーは、一つのドローイングをもとに作り出した「生命体 (Lifeform)」だ。それらは肉体のようであり内臓のようであり、奇妙な暖かさを持って私たちに語りかけてくる。私の中にある言葉にできない曖昧で不確かなかたちを「あわいー間ー」というはっきりとした形を持たない時空の存在に掛けて、目に見えないがそこに確かにあるかたちを視覚化している。等身大サイズのその生命体の持つ存在感をギャラリーにきてぜひ体感してほしい。
5月27日（金）のオープニングでは、ダンサー川合ロンのパフォーマンスイベントを開催する。時間は６時からと７時からの２回。２０分程度を予定している。
About the artist:
Akiha Yamakami (*born l 984 in Nagano Prefecture, Japan.)
She studied at 2009 MA in Printmaking, Lithography major at the graduate school of Tama Art University, Tokyo.
She lives and works in New York City from 2012. She creates soft sculpture works with print and cloths upon the theme of human body. She actively presents her work both in Japan and in overseas. Started to collaborate with dance projects 15 years ago. She makes costumes for dancers as well.

1984年長野県生まれ。多摩美術大学版画学科リトグラフ専攻2009年大学院修了。2012年よりNYをベースに制作活動をスタートさせ、身体をモチーフに版画や布を用いてソフトスカルプチャー=柔らかい彫刻の制作、発表を国内外で行う。 15年ほど前からダンサーとのコラボレーションも積極的に行なっており、ダンサーの衣装なども手がける。
