In April we are pleased to invite you to the exhibition “Other Ways of Seeing”, a collection of moving image, graphic, and experiment-based work by Flora Weil.
“Other Ways of Seeing” is a research archive that explores the relationship between the visibility of things and modern technologies of perception. It examines the way we look, detect, and represent objects, people, and places in the context of a digital age. The body of work collected in this space consist of ideas spanning the themes of subversion, information, and camouflage.
In addition, it documents a series of experiments that investigate methods of concealment from 3D scanning tools. The project aims to open discussion about the manipulation of sight, the ability to disappear, and what it means to exist in a world predominantly perceived by machines.
ONA project room 4月の展示プログラムは、フローラ・ウェイルの映像・グラフィック・実験に基づいた作品からなる個展「other Ways of Seeing」を開催いたします。
"Other Ways of Seeing „は、物の見え方と現代の知覚技術との関係を探る研究記録です。デジタル時代の文脈の中で、私達がどのように 物、人、場所を見て、検知し、表現しているかを検証しています。 展示空間に集められた作品群は、崩壊、情報、 カモフラージュのテーマにまたがるアイデアで構成されています。
さらに、3D スキャンによる隠蔽工作を調査する 一連の実験も記録されています。このプロジェクトでは、視覚の操作や姿を隠す / 消す能力、そして機械によって主に認識される世界に存在することの意味について議論を深めることを目的としています。
About the artist:
Flora is a researcher and multidisciplinary designer from France. She received a double master’s degree in design engineering from the Royal College of Art and Imperial College in 2019. She has since then worked with artists and scientists across a variety of disciplines, on projects ranging from large-scale installations to commercial products. In her personal work, Flora is interested in exploring new perspectives and narratives around the development of emerging technologies.

2019年ロイヤル・カレッジ・オブ・アート、インペリアル・カレッジ(デザイン工学)両大学において修士号(ダブルマスター)取得。それ以来、様々な分野のアーティストや科学者とともに、大規模なインスタレーションから商業製品に至るまで、多様なプロジェクトで活動。また、個人のの活動では、新技術の開発をめぐる新たな視点や物語を探求することに関心を持っています。
